In a high interactive environment, the event was an important opportunity to academic improvement, learning and exchange information among participants.nThe first edition of the Forum occurred at UNESCO, Paris (2010).
The IIWDF-2014 is the second of a series of five to take place in each of the five designated UNESCO regions: Europe and North America (France, 2010), Latin American and the Caribbean (Brazil, 2014), Arab States (2016), Africa (Mauritius – 2018) and Asia and the Pacific (2020).nThe programme for Brazil (2014) explored two related lines of research: (i) the development of linguistic skills in children across varying world languages and (ii) the training of teachers on how to identify and teach dyslexic children.
The highlight of the Forum was the “World Profile” session where representatives from four of the six official UNESCO languages, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish considered the best practice in teaching literacy skills across the world.
